This introductory meditation course held at WIMR is designed for people who have never meditated before, however people who already know how to meditate will also find it useful. We will provide a thorough grounding in two approaches to meditation; mindfulness and the cultivation of positive emotion through three meditation practices. This is available for ALL staff and students of the Westmead Research Hub partners.

For the last 3 years we have run a 10 week introductory meditation course at the Westmead Institute for Medical Research (WIMR) and we will be running another one for 2018.  

When: commencing Friday 2nd Feb and finish on 29th March.

Course Content: The course will focus on two aspects of meditation; mindfulness and the cultivation of positive emotions (e.g. kindness, friendliness, compassion, joy in the happiness of others and equanimity).

After you have attended this course, or if you already know how to meditate, you can then attend one (or all) of our three weekly regular meditation sessions held at midday until 1pm:

Mondays: Meditation with limited guidance

Wednesdays: Meditation and Buddhist exploration

Fridays: Guided meditation with a theme
