February’s Hub Update brings together essential news from across Westmead, including upcoming seminars and events, along with two key developments showcasing the innovation happening within our community.
A promising advance in childhood brain cancer research:
WIMR’s Dr Han Shen has received international support for a project exploring a new therapeutic strategy for diffuse midline glioma, one of the most aggressive childhood brain tumours. The work includes investigating whether existing FDA‑approved drugs could be repurposed to fast‑track treatment options for young patients.
A major boost to live‑cell imaging capabilities:
WIMR is also preparing to install the Incucyte S3, a continuous live‑cell imaging system that enables long‑term, real‑time cellular monitoring. Once integrated into the broader imaging suite, it will expand access to advanced microscopy and open new opportunities for researchers across the Hub.
