Westmead Research Hub is pleased to share a major achievement from our partners, the Westmead Institute for Medical Research (WIMR), University of Sydney, and Westmead Hospital part of the Western Sydney Local Health District. Backed by $15.5 million from Snow Medical, several institutes and universities will collaborate on a seven‑year national program addressing metabolic‑associated fatty liver disease, now one of the most common chronic liver conditions in Australia.
Based at the Storr Liver Centre, the initiative brings together expert teams from across the country to fast‑track better diagnosis, treatment and prevention. The program spans multiple research strengths, including genomics, immune science, ageing, systems biology, bioinformatics, nutrition and microbiome research.
This program brings together leading teams from across Australia including Centenary Institute, University of Sydney, Charles Perkins Centre, Westmead Hospital, Royal Prince Alfred Hospital, St Vincent’s Hospital Melbourne, The University of Queensland, Monash University and additional partners nationwide.
