Scientific Advisory Committees

Westmead Research Hub Scientific Advisory Committees meet regularly to make scientific recommendations related to core Westmead technologies. These are:

  • Biobanking
  • Imaging and Electron Microscopy
  • Flow Cytometry
  • Genomics

Role of the Scientific Advisory Committee (SAC)

SAC members are responsible for the following tasks:

  • advise on strategies, tools and techniques needed to keep the Facilities current with technological developments;
  • represent and communicate users’ views regarding the satisfactory operation of the Facility;
  • provide advice to ensure that the Facilities’ strategic plans align primarily with the planning of the MRIs, the Westmead Research Hub, and secondarily to other collaborative partnerships or other funding requirements as appropriate;
  • advise on study designs, when required by users;
  • advise on equipment grant applications, if required;
  • advise on promoting awareness of the Facilities;
  • advise on partnerships and collaborations to improve or expand the Facilities; and
  • monitor agreed KPIs or grant funding compliance.
