WRH was formed through a Memorandum of Understanding on 6 July 2004, with the parties being Westmead Millenium Institute (renamed the Westmead Institute for Medical Research in 2014), Westmead Hospital, Children’s Hospital at Westmead (CHW) and Children’s Medical Research Institute (CMRI). It was joined by USYD in 2011, by NSW Health Pathology as a full partner in 2020, and by the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO) in 2021.
