How to identify potential commercial ideas and IP +
Making the most out of accelerator programs like CSIRO ON Prime
Thursday 16th March 2023

Andy Lamb, Director of Innovation Studios and Program Facilitator, Designer and Mentor of the CSIRO ON Prime program

For our first Commercialisation Seminar of 2023, we are thrilled to host Andy Lamb, a thought leader in innovation, entrepreneurship, and creative. Andy is the current Director of Innovation Studios and also a Program Facilitator, Designer and Mentor of the CSIRO ON Prime program.

Previously the founder and CEO at Atomic Sky and consulting for clients such as CSIRO, Bankwest, CISCO, UWA, Curtin and the City of Perth, Andy has a track record setting up, running and working with successful businesses. An Entrepreneur in Residence of Tech Hub, a mentor for Founder Institute and a member of the Perth Angels investor network.

Andy’s approach is all about disruption: he challenges organisations to look at what they’re building and whether this matches a genuine need. In this way, he works with companies willing to think outside the box to innovate and avoid waste. He looks at the specific culture and what will work in creating change there. He utilises a consideration of space, visual representations and models, creative tools and a human-centred approach to design thinking.

This presentation will cover how to identify potential commercial ideas and IP within your research, specifically how it solves a problem and society and how to capture the novel aspects to gain investment. Andy will also speak about his experience with the CSIRO ON Prime program, and how to make the most of this, and other, accelerator programs.
